No-Cost & Discounted Services for Veterans and Their Spouses in El Dorado County and Carson City

Veteran Home Care Through the Community Care Network
Elder Options is honored to serve veterans in El Dorado County, Carson City, and the surrounding areas as a Community Care Network (CCN) Provider through the Veterans Administration (VA) and TriWest Healthcare Alliance. This contract allows us to provide non-medical home care services to Veterans referred by VA-registered physicians and TriWest Community Care Network providers.
The number of care hours is determined by the veteran’s physician based on individual needs. Once a referral is received, Elder Options will:
- Reach out to the veteran and their family.
- Develop a personalized care plan.
- Carefully match the veteran with a caregiver best suited to their needs.
These services help veterans of all ages in El Dorado County and Carson City maintain independence and safety by providing assistance with:
- Personal care, including showers.
- Supervision for memory impairments.
- Hospice support.
- Transfers and mobility assistance.
- Meal preparation.
- Household tasks.
- Respite for family caregivers.

Veteran or Disabled Spouse Home Care
Elder Options has been awarded a grant to assist veterans and their disabled spouses in El Dorado County and Carson City through the Short-Term Homemaker Services program. This initiative provides:
- No-cost home care assistance for daily tasks (one three-hour shift per week for four weeks).
- Support from an Elder Options Credentialed care manager to help Veterans access community resources for independent living.Â
Eligibility Requirements
The applicant must be a Veteran or disabled spouse in need of help with:
- Light housekeeping and laundry.
- Changing bed linens.
- Meal preparation.
- Personal care assistance, including showers.
- Supervision for memory impairments.
- Socialization and companionship.
- Must live in El Dorado County or Carson City.
- Must work with an Elder Options care manager to coordinate care and explore available resources.Â
- Must not be receiving public home care benefits, such as In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS), Multi-Services Senior Program (MSSP), or other VA home care services.
- No financial eligibility restrictions – those with financial concerns are encouraged to apply.
Vital Link Emergency Response System
Through a partnership with Vital Link, Elder Options offers discounted emergency response systems for just $20 a month – with no installation fee – for Veterans using VA Homemaker Services.
Eligibility Requirements
- Must live in El Dorado County or Carson City.
- Must have a landline phone service.
- Must be a Veteran in need of a Medical Alert System.
How Vital Link Works
In an emergency, simply press your help button (worn around your neck or wrist). The system immediately connects you to a U.S.-based, 24/7 monitoring center, where professional Emergency Medical Dispatch-certified operators will:
- Speak to you through the built-in speaker.
- Contact a designated family member or friend.
- Dispatch emergency responders if needed.
If you are unable to respond, help will be sent immediately.
