Our very own Liz Heape-Caldwell was recently featured in Comstock’s Magazine, highlighting how California’s aging population is reshaping the way families find care—and the important role Aging Life Care Managers play as experts in “Aging Well.”
Article Summary:
Liz Heape-Caldwell, co-owner of Elder Options, has spent more than two decades helping families navigate the challenges of aging and caregiving. As a Certified Aging Life Care Manager, she and her team of Aging Life Care Managers work with older adults and their loved ones to coordinate care, advocate during medical crises, and help families make informed decisions during uncertain times.
Her work takes a whole-person approach—focusing not just on medical needs, but also on quality of life, connection, and independence whenever possible. “We focus on the health and well-being of the individual… but also what’s missing in their life,” she explains.
Often, families reach out during times of crisis, when decisions feel urgent and overwhelming. “I’d love for people to reach out earlier,” she says. “Most of the time we’re called in when it’s urgent.” “Everyone can have a different opinion on next steps, and it’s overwhelming.”
Through her work, Liz continues to be a trusted resource for families—offering clarity, compassion, and expertise when it’s needed most. “I’ve been a care manager for 23 years and I can’t imagine doing anything else,” she shared. “I love helping families, and it’s an honor to provide older adults with care and guidance.”
